I love your breakdown of the characters. I absolutely agree. I also think that at the end, when Glinda and Elphaba go their separate ways, that it could be a metaphor for how people go about dismantling the system. Some people reject it entirely and are labeled the problem, other people try to change the system from within.
I, too, used to want to be adored like Galinda, and part of me still does. I see parts of myself in several different characters, and I think that’s part of the beauty and mastery of this musical (and the book it’s based on).
I absolutely love the musical, and I’m going to read the book this year.

Yes, this play is so powerful because a person focusing on healing can see a bit of themselves in everyone whereas a wounded person may only identify as the role of victim without seeing how they can also be perpetrator.
